International Women’s Day Celebration – 2026

SHIVANI ENGINEERING COLLEGE, TIRUCHIRAPPALLI

Shivani Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli, celebrated International Women’s Day on 06 March 2026 in the College Auditorium with great enthusiasm under the inspiring theme “Give to Gain.” The event aimed to recognize the achievements of women and to encourage empowerment, confidence, and leadership among students.

The program began with an invocation, followed by the lighting of the traditional lamp, symbolizing knowledge, hope, and positivity.

Mrs. A. Karpagam, HoD – Biomedical Engineering, delivered the Welcome Address, warmly welcoming the dignitaries, faculty members, and students gathered for the celebration.

The celebration was organized under the guidance and support of our respected Secretary, Er. S. Vignesharan, and Treasurer, Er. T. S. Prabhakaran, whose continuous encouragement and support help promote various academic and social initiatives in the institution.

The celebration was presided over by our respected Principal, Dr. V. Balasubramaniam, whose constant encouragement and support made the event possible. The function was also graced by our esteemed Dean, Dr. G. Uthayakumaran.

The Chief Guest, Dr. P. Kanimozhi, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., Founder and Managing Trustee of Empower Trust, Tiruchirappalli, delivered an inspiring special address. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment, self-confidence, gender equality, and education in shaping a progressive society. Her motivating words encouraged students to believe in their abilities and work towards achieving their goals.

As part of the Women’s Day celebration, several competitions were conducted for students prior to the main event. These included Drawing, Tamil Essay Writing, Tamil Debate, Singing, Mime, Mono Act, Dance, and other fun activities. The winners of these competitions were recognized and appreciated during the celebration.

The Valedictory Address was delivered by Mr. K. P. Ravi Kumar, HoD – Civil Engineering, who emphasized the importance of respecting, supporting, and empowering women in all aspects of life.

The program concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Miss. Jayasree, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the management, chief guest, dignitaries, faculty members, and students for making the event a grand success.

The celebration created awareness about the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment and inspired everyone to contribute towards building a more inclusive and progressive society.
